Urban Sketchers Vancouver Sketch Weekend – Day 2 Workshop
Day 1 was absolutely beautiful — sunny, warm, and I was told it was a rare treat for Vancouver! Then came Day 2… and I got the full Welcome to the“Wet Coast”.
I had originally planned for us to sketch across the harbor, with a view of the bridge and city, but with the nonstop rain, I found a new spot under the bridge that gave us cover and a great view of the Granville Island sign, boats, and city. I thought it was the perfect Plan B.
Well, not long into the workshop, the wind picked up and started blowing the rain sideways. It felt like someone was gently misting our sketchbooks with a spray bottle. Honestly, I thought people might leave — but no one did. No complaints, no grumbling… just smiles, laughter, and a whole lot of great sketching.
I was truly amazed by the positivity and spirit of this Vancouver group. When it got too wet and cold to keep going outside, we moved indoors to the cozy Opus Art Supplies studio to warm up and finish our work. I’m so glad we did.
Thank you to everyone who stuck it out and made the day so special — your energy and enthusiasm meant the world to me. And a big thank you to the volunteers who helped make it all happen.
Out of the hundreds of workshops I’ve taught, this one was definitely the wettest… and absolutely one of the most memorable.Thank you, Vancouver Urban Sketchers!
